Albumin Test - This test measures the level of albumin in the blood. Albumin is a protein made by the liver and is essential for maintaining the osmotic pressure needed for proper distribution of body fluids between blood vessels and body tissues. It is commonly used to evaluate kidney function, liver function, and nutritional status. Low levels may indicate liver disease, kidney disease, or malnutrition, while high levels are less common and can be seen in dehydration The only known cause for high albumin levels is dehydration.
